Notice on confidentiality

At Positive Directions, we respect the importance of privacy and confidentiality in the therapeutic relationship. Our practitioners are guided by relevant professional codes of ethics and practice standards, including those of professional bodies.

Information shared during counselling, therapy, and supervision will generally be treated as confidential and handled with care and respect. However, confidentiality has ethical and professional limits.

Where there is a serious and foreseeable risk of harm to yourself or others, our practitioners may be required to share relevant information with appropriate persons or agencies who are able to take necessary and responsible steps to ensure safety and prevent harm. Such disclosures will be limited to information that is necessary and appropriate to address the situation.

We recognise that confidentiality is an important part of creating a safe space for exploration and growth. At the same time, our professional responsibility is to uphold both respect for confidentiality and our duty of care to protect life and safety.

By engaging our services, clients acknowledge and understand these boundaries of confidentiality
